NL Races Far From Over

With less than a week remaining in the MLB regular season the National League playoff picture is cloudier than Barry Bond's urine. The NL West has three teams within 3 games of each other (D-Backs, Padres, Rockies) the Central has the Cubbies hanging on to a 2 game lead over the big battin' Brew Crew (Milwaukee) and in the East the Mets are doing everything possible to lose their lead to the Phillies. The Wild Card is just as close with at least 6 teams still in contention.

So who's going to be in? Cubs, Phillies, Padres, D-backs
More importantly, who do i want to be in? Cubs, Phillies, Mets, Rockies.

Gundy Goes Off

It wouldn't be football season without some coach blowing up at the media. After a WIN on the weekend, Oklahoma State's coach Mike Gundy decided to go bananas. I'm not sure what he was hoping the outcome would be, but the slow clap at the end is a nice touch. COME AFTER ME, I'M A MAN, I'M 40!!

It's not as impressive as Dennis Green's tirade last year (http://youtube.com/watch?v=m_N1OjGhIFc) but it's still pretty damn good.

Shabop Shalom

Nearly every review of Devendra Banhart's new album mentions the unmistakable horror of "Shabop Shalom." A 1950's doo-wop croon with a dash of Judaism. Let me be the first to say this song isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Sure it's not Banhart's most accessible song but neither is the album it comes from. Once you get past the akward spoken word intro it becomes a catchy little number that sticks out for it's originality much in the same way as Seahorse, Carmencita and Badgirl do. It's these risks that make each new Banhart album something to get excited about.
