Goodnight Sweet Prince

There has been many a night over the past few years where i'd suddenly, violently awaken. Screaming in terror, drenched in cold sweat, believing old #4 had retired. Now that it has actually happened, i can't help but feel disappointed. Brett Favre's choice to retire now, after his best season in 10 years, is going to be a tough pill to swallow for a lot of Packer fans. But as we look back on his illustrious career, fans will realize that this man has done all that he can do for the game. He holds every possible record that a quarterback can achieve and now he feels that coming back for one more season, without winning a Superbowl, is not worth coming back for. Instead, at the ripe old age of 38, he will ride off into the Mississippi sunset to live away from the game he loves, gone but not forgotten.

UPDATE - It's a year later, Favre did come back (to the Jets) for a forgettable season. He has since retired again, still making the above post relevant.
