Joba Chamberlain Does NOT like bugs.

In what was a very entertaining 2nd game in the ALDS, the Yankees were bamboozled not by Fausto Carmona's (i love that name) outstanding pitching performance but by thousands and thousands of little bugs. The minature monsters appeared in the 7th inning as the Indians began to wear down New York starting pitcher Andy Pettite. Joba Chamberlain came in to relieve and was in obvious discomfort swinging away at the bugs that gnawed on his chubby face. He seemed to be more concerned about the bugs than striking out his opponents throwing 2 wild pitches that eventually cost the yankees the tying run. The Indians had several opportunities to win, stranding numerous runners in scoring position, but eventually won in the 11th inning 2-1. Not only was it a well pitched game but seeing the yankees squirming around was very satisfying . Side note: Has Derek Jeter ever been outdoors beyond the realm of a baseball diamond?

Know Your Ryan Howards'

With the baseball playoffs kicking off today and the new season of The Office starting last week it's time to examine the world of Ryan Howard. Both are young and successful and have big chips on their shoulders. One is likable and the other is not. One is a large black man and the other is a small white guy. Let's take a closer look:

Name: Ryan Howard
Job: Professional Baseball Player, Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies first baseman is the reigning NL MVP and a monster power hitter. At age 27 he is just beginning to hit his potential as an MLB all star. He batted .268 with 47 HR's and 136 RBI's this season. This October he plans to lead the Phillies back to the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Name: Ryan Howard
Job: VP Regional Sales, Dunder Mifflin
Since replacing Jan Levinson at Corporate Headquarters, Ryan Howard has become an even bigger wiener than when he was at the Scranton Branch. With a newly scruffed face and a taste for snappy powersuits he will quickly get under the skin of anybody he meets. This October he plans to have someone bring him a latte'.

Funny in 3 minute intervals.

The 33rd season of SNL premiered this past weekend which also meant the return of Andy Samberg's Digital Shorts.

Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the love interest of Samberg in this skit. He serenades him with the help of the Maroon 5 singer (you know, what's his name) and the resulting song is a classic. Apparently, it's already #1 on the Iranian billboard.

The piano song used is "Avril 14th" from The Aphex Twins 2001 album, Drukqs.

The "REAL" season is about to begin........

I'm sure many Canadian sport fans have had this date marked on their calenders for some time. The first day of the NHL regular season is here and frankly who gives a damn? (Honestly, if i hear one more comment on TSN about tonights Maple Leaf/Senators match up i'll fly to TO and personally rip Dave Hodge's toupee off his head.) More importantly it's the first day of the MLB playoffs. After a grueling 162 game (163 if you're the Rockies) it's time to get excited about baseball.

American League:
Indians Vs. Yankees
Red Sox Vs. Angels

National Leauge:

Cubs Vs. Diamondbacks
Phillies Vs. Rockies

With my beloved Dodgers out of the picture i'll be routing for the Cubbies this October. I figure with the average baseball game running 3+ hours i'll be looking at approximately 200 hours of baseball to watch in the next month. If only that was meant as a joke......
